Testimonials

I was a little scared of the taper period but I did it anyway and had the race of my life (to date anyway)! I did a 10:29:50 and qualified for the World Championship in Kona! Your book was invaluable to me and in only my second year of triathlon and my first year of serious training on the bike and swim. It proves that your techniques and strategies really do work! –L.P.

I bought the "Cyclist’s TrainingBible" last fall and used it 'religiously' to train throughout this season. I surpassed every
goal that I set for the season and won the Quebec Championships (ITT) as well as setting a new record for our club's (Ottawa Bicycle Club) 15 kilometer TT in my age group, averaging 43 kph – I'm 51. It was a thrilling year and I have loftier goals this year including the Canadian Championships (I was 5th last year) and much more road racing. I can't tell you how much I've learned from your book – its fantastic. Thank you so much. I now have a copy of "Cycling Past 50"
as well. –P.W.

I am a recreational mountain biker. We have a local summer race series which I enter and have a couple of 24-hour races under my belt. I am usually in the middle/lower section of the finishing pack. At the end of last year, I made a promise to be more competitive this year. I started my typical indoor spinning in early December. At Christmas, a riding buddy gave me the Mountain Biker's TrainingBible. I'm sure you've heard this many times, but it fundamentally changed my whole approach to training and riding. To make a long winter short, I am in the best shape of my life and now I can call myself a triathlete. I really wanted to thank you for writing your book. It was so easy to follow and understand. You made me feel like I could accomplish this goal when others thought it would be impossible. –K.F.

I laid out my program, started on the weights, diet, sleep, you wrote it, I just committed to it. In the first race this year, (18th out of 24 riders last year) I finished 6th and within striking distance of numbers 3, 4 and 5. I can't tell you the difference your program has made. Thanks. –N.G.

My sincerest appreciation to you for taking the time to put your thoughts down on paper and offer them to the public. It has made a tremendous difference in my training philosophy and my life. I can honestly say I have co-workers, family and friends all asking me how I can help them realize the results I am seeing. I have pointed them all to your books and website and told them it is all about the strategy…Focus, Plan, Execute, Measure, Adjust…REPEAT. –C.R.

I must say that it is one of the best training books I've ever seen, not just in triathlon, but in any sport. Anyone who buys it will definitely feel they've gotten their money's worth. It reminds me of the information-dense "Scientific Aspects of Long Distance Running" by Costill back in the late 70's…a real milestone. –R.K.

I just completed Ironman USA in Lake Placid and I wanted to thank you. I used your book, "The Triathlete's TrainingBible" to prepare me exclusively. Fifteen months ago I had never swam the crawl, raced a bike, or ran in a road race. I was 32 years old, weighed 192 pounds at 5' 8" and had never competed in a triathlon. I used the periodization method and followed the examples you gave and could see my level of fitness increase as each period went on. –J.P.

Having limited training experience, I headed over to the book store to find guidance, and purchased your book,
"The Triathlete's TrainingBible". In retrospect, I consider it to be the most important book I have ever purchased or read.
I have read portions of it tens, if not hundreds of times. It was absolutely invaluable in all aspects of training and preparation for competition in this event. I have recommended it with confidence to anyone who has asked me, "how do you do it," and frequently provide advice to my associates based on information I have learned from, and used, that was in your book. –A.W.

I got my copy in New York last December and had virtually read it by the time I landed at Heathrow Airport. I took on the training regime diligently and it was instrumental in my winning the British National 55-60 Masters Championship this year, a result I have still not quite taken in yet. I did not do as well as I wanted in the World Masters in Austria, but I was at fault.
I did not go back to base training as I needed to and paid the price in the second half of the year. So it is back to the drawing board this winter to try and improve next year. I am reading the book all over again and enjoying it just as much as the first time. –D.R.

I am a 33-year-old mountain bike racer from Indiana. I bought your book ("Mountain Biker’s TrainingBible") two years ago. Initially, I didn’t like the idea of specific training because it seemed like I wouldn’t get to ride off road as much as I liked. After a less than stellar season, I decided to try it anyway. I laid out a training plan which started in November. So far I have been able to stick to it with only a few missed workouts due to weather, family, etc. I had my first XC race on April 9th in NC (Tsali Knobscorcher). I was able to knock a whopping 26 minutes off of my time from last year! –C.H.

I'm moving up to Expert this year and hoping to keep improving. The "Mountain Biker’s TrainingBible" is excellent and really helped me improve as a racer. Thanks! –G.P.
